Work on the regulatory framework for the creation of a footwear holding is nearing completion - Martynov
Work on the regulatory framework for the creation of a footwear holding in Belarus is nearing completion. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Nikolai Martynov, a member of the Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia for Economic Policy, a member of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus for Regional Policy and Local Self-Government, and the General Director of the joint limited liability company "Marko".
He noted that work on the draft decree on the creation of the holding is being finalized. It is planned to include footwear, leather, fur, and tanning enterprises in the holding. The total cost of the project, according to preliminary estimates, will be $160 million.
In the near future, the "Marko" enterprise intends to begin construction of a tannery. Nikolai Martynov considers the main problem to be ensuring the new production with raw materials, which are insufficient in Belarus. He sees a way out of the situation in attracting Russian companies that are interested in modern leather processing.
