The work of school psychologists and social educators in the Vitebsk region requires changes - the prosecutor's office
July 8, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The work of psychologists and social educators in educational institutions of the Vitebsk region is not effective enough and requires fundamental changes. Irina Yanukovich, Senior Assistant Prosecutor of the Vitebsk Region for Juvenile and Youth Affairs, expressed this opinion to a BELTA correspondent.
The prosecutor's office of the region came to this conclusion based on the results of an inspection of the activities of the social-pedagogical and psychological services of various schools, secondary vocational educational institutions and orphanages in the region. Thus, the efforts of employees of these structures should primarily be aimed at preventing offenses and suicides among adolescents. However, in the latter case, these facts sometimes remain outside the scope of social educators and psychologists. The lack of close interaction with medical institutions contributes significantly to this.
A formal attitude to work is confirmed by the work plans of specialists with children from dysfunctional families or those in a socially dangerous situation. In most cases, they are developed for the academic year, thus excluding the summer period. "In addition, it was often found that the planned events and work plans with children remained just plans: no information about their implementation could be found," noted Irina Yanukovich.
The submitted reports are compiled in a similar way and do not contain an analysis of the effectiveness of the decisions made and the preventive measures taken. For example, employees of the Ezeerishchinsky orphanage, the Polotsk Vocational Lyceum of Agricultural Production, and some schools in the Sennensky district and Polotsk, whose students committed unlawful acts, did not analyze the behavior of children in order to take measures and prevent the recurrence of these facts.
During the inspections, prosecutors also identified cases of inaction by educational institutions when identifying children in a socially dangerous situation. Often, instead of recognizing such minors as needing state protection, they were only placed on an internal school register.
In order to rectify the current situation, the prosecutor's office has submitted a representation to the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee with a proposal to bring to justice the heads of bodies and educational institutions that have not ensured the proper implementation of legislation.-0-
