The teacher's work should be aimed at preparing children for life
This opinion was expressed by the head of the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Ivan Shchurok, before the start of the regional August pedagogical conference.
"A teacher should focus on effective work and understand that their activities should yield results. This activity should be aimed at preparing children for life. I am not talking about admission exclusively to higher educational institutions; now I prioritize obtaining a skilled trade," said Ivan Shchurok.
He emphasized that fundamental personal qualities are formed at school, and a person's growth largely depends on the teacher. "I was very lucky in life to choose this profession, and I have been working in the education system since 1974," emphasized the head of the department.
Speaking about preparations for the new academic year, he noted that the inspection of schools this summer was more meticulous than ever before. "Commissions worked in all regions. Initially, 75 remarks were made for all institutions, and 10 educational institutions were not approved. The shortcomings have been rectified, and now all educational institutions have been approved. We are determined to start the new academic year clearly and in an organized manner," stated the interlocutor.
Regarding specialized training, Ivan Shchurok stressed that the region had good groundwork. "Seven years ago, more than 81% of our educational institutions operated on a specialized basis. On the eve of the new academic year, we held interviews with teachers, heads of education departments, and school principals on organizing specialized training. It is planned that about 74% of high school students will study in specialized classes. But the most important thing is not the quantity, but the content of the work," said the head of the department.
At the regional pedagogical conference, which was attended by First Deputy Minister of Education Vadim Bogush and Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Terentyev, strategic directions for the development of the region's education system were discussed.
