Three-shift work allowed Vitebsk region's grain growers to complete the sowing of grain crops within a tight timeframe

Good organization of work allowed the Vitebsk region's grain growers to complete the sowing of early spring cereals within optimal deadlines, the Agriculture and Food Committee of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.

The work was best organized in the Gorodok, Glubokoe, and Lepel districts. The regional agricultural department particularly noted the Gorodok district. "Due to climatic conditions, the region started the sowing campaign later than all others, but managed to catch up. Grain growers in almost all regions worked around the clock. To meet the optimal deadlines, machine operators prepared the soil at night. Cereal sowing began at four in the morning. It was a very intense sowing campaign," the regional agricultural department emphasized. The deadlines were minimized, but thanks to the selfless work of the grain growers, the region coped with the task.

Flax sowing is proceeding at a good pace in the region. 15 thousand hectares have already been sown, which is 74% of the plan. Farms in the region are actively involved in corn sowing (17% sown) and potato planting. 1,324 hectares are already occupied by the second bread, which is more than 26%, and vegetables have been sown on 700 hectares (almost 40% of the plan).
