The work of consumer cooperatives in the Vitebsk region needs to be completely restructured. This was stated by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, at a joint meeting of the presidium of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies and the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee during the consideration of the socio-economic development of the region in 2017 and the forecast for 2018.
"Order must be established in the work of consumer cooperatives. The administrative management scheme of this structure needs to be fundamentally changed, non-core assets must be disposed of, and effective trade services for the population must be ensured. This is the key task of the regional consumer union," Nikolai Sherstnev emphasized.
For a long period, the activities of consumer cooperatives in the region have been characterized by low turnover indicators. Almost all district consumer unions are increasing their costs, and every third one is unprofitable. "By 2018, the work of the regional consumer union should be completely restructured and this issue should be resolved," concluded the chairman of the regional executive committee.
