For forgetful men, flower shops in Vitebsk are extending their opening hours
Vitebsk flower shops have switched to holiday operating hours since March 6, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by Irina Alferonok, director of the subsidiary unitary communal agricultural greenhouse enterprise "Zelenkhoz".
For three days, including March 8, the enterprise's eight flower shops will open at 7 and 8 a.m. – an hour earlier – and close at 9 and 10 p.m., whereas on regular days they do not stay open later than 7 p.m. "This is to ensure that even the most forgetful and busy men have no excuse for an absent bouquet," the director joked.
The selection of flowers in "Zelenkhoz" stores is extensive: cut roses, lilies, freesias, callas, gerberas, tulips, chrysanthemums, and potted hyacinths, primroses. Florists are ready to sell 23 thousand roses, 6 thousand freesias, 1 thousand lilies, and 12 thousand tulips. The top sellers are roses, hyacinths, and freesias. According to Irina Alferonok, flower prices have remained at last year's level. The most expensive rose in the state flower shop will be sold for Br34 thousand.
"Zelenkhoz" intends to continue updating its planting material this year. In 2012, new varieties of freesias appeared in the greenhouses, and this year five new varieties of roses in lilac, pink, and red colors will be planted.
