Raimonds Pauls proposes to hold creative competitions for participants of "Slavianski Bazaar" and "New Wave"
July 11, Vitebsk / Eduard Pivovar - BELTA /. Raimonds Pauls suggests organizing creative competitions for the contestants of "Slavianski Bazaar" and "New Wave". This idea was born by the maestro today during a conversation with a BELTA correspondent.
The famous composer and musician came to the international arts festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" for the first time. In recent years, he has been actively involved in the competition for young performers "New Wave", which is held annually in Jurmala, Latvia. Nevertheless, the maestro was not afraid to come to the competing festival in Vitebsk.
"If Jurmala focuses on pop songs, then everything is here - any genre, and this is very good," the maestro emphasized.
Although Raimonds Pauls is participating in the Vitebsk festival for the first time, he brought an unusually diverse program to the city on the Dvina. At the festival's opening concert, he presented a medley of his famous hits. And today, at the Vitebsk Regional Philharmonic, he showed himself from a different side, which is known to true connoisseurs of his work. There were quite a few of them in Vitebsk, and they all came to listen not to Raimonds Pauls, the author of popular songs, but to Raimonds Pauls, the virtuoso musician and jazzman. Moreover, the soloist of the Riga National Opera Ilona Bagele took part in the concert with him, which was a real gift for music lovers.
But that's not all. Tomorrow, the musical performance "Odessa, the City of Sorcery..." based on the works of I. Babel will be presented at the "Vitebsk" concert hall by the Mikhail Chekhov Riga Russian Theatre. More than 50 artists are involved in the production, and the music for this spectacular performance was written by Raimonds Pauls. "There are cabaret songs and couplets, and I look at this work with a smile," the maestro said. -0-
