Regional museums of the Vitebsk region are creating electronic databases of local attractions in the Year of the Native Land

September 2, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. District museums and libraries of the Vitebsk region, in the Year of the Native Land, have begun creating electronic databases on local attractions and historical monuments, the head of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Culture Department, Nikolai Pashinsky, told a BELTA correspondent. Such databases will allow for the systematization of information on architectural monuments, historical sites and events, and can be used to create tourist routes and excursions, the source explained. For example, the Glubokoye District Museum of Local Lore has accumulated a large amount of material about famous people associated with Glubochina, about attractions, and has even created a separate database on the history of the streets of the district center. According to Nikolai Pashinsky, the museum's materials are actively used by local tourism service providers. By the end of this year, in accordance with the regional plan for the Year of the Native Land, electronic local lore databases should be created in each district and then posted on the Internet, Nikolai Pashinsky added. In the region, 885 objects have been included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Heritage, including 279 architectural monuments, 346 archaeological monuments, and 252 historical and cultural monuments. As Nikolai Pashinsky noted, to popularize national heritage, materials about the architectural monuments of Polotsk associated with the name of Euphrosyne of Polotsk have been prepared and submitted for consideration to the UNESCO commission for inclusion in the World Cultural Heritage List, and dossier preparation is underway for a defensive type church - the church in the village of Kamai, Postavy district. -0-
