March 30, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The district historical and local lore museum in Dubrovno is planned to be opened at the end of 2010, the culture department of the Dubrovno District Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. It will be located in the former Bernardine monastery, founded in 1630. Reconstruction is currently underway in the architectural monument. The volume of investments for all project work is about Br1.9 billion. Over 11,000 exhibits from different periods related to the history and culture of the district have already been collected for the future museum during archaeological and folklore expeditions. Among the most interesting are a mammoth tusk found near the village of Chizhovka, a treasure trove of women's jewelry dating back to the 1st millennium BC, handwritten diaries of the leader of the Osintorf underground Stanislav Shmuglevsky, woven rushnyks, and much more. At the same time, the collection is constantly growing, as the local population actively helps to replenish it. Currently, all collected exhibits are stored in the repositories of the district House of Culture. They can be seen only from time to time during small exhibitions organized in the House of Soviets in Dubrovno. -0-
