BRSM presented embroidered shirts to newborns in Vitebsk region on the eve of Independence Day
They met the newborn baby in a very unusual way: in vyshyvankas, with Belarusian songs and poems, and presented a set of clothes with a Belarusian ornament.
Just recently, activists of the youth union of the ancient city congratulated the new resident of Polotsk, Zhenya Serko, in the same way. The BRSM gives such moments to young parents as part of the "Podary nemaulyati vyshyvanku" (Gift a vyshyvanka to a baby) campaign. It became part of the republican youth project "Belarus - Krynytsa Natkhnennya" (Belarus - a Source of Inspiration), aimed at preserving cultural values and popularizing national traditions.
Also, as part of the project, on the eve of Independence Day, the nationwide campaign "Dzen' vyshyvanki" (Vyshyvanka Day) will be held in Belarus. The most large-scale program is planned in Minsk, and a delegation from the Vitebsk region will take part in it.
An art parade "Pad spyagam z vyshyvankay" (Under the flag with a vyshyvanka), an exhibition-sale of folk craft products, flash mobs, a fashion show of models in costumes with vyshyvanka elements from Belarusian designers and manufacturers, a unique historical quest, various sports competitions, and a folk disco "Vyshyvanka.by" are expected.
