The distribution of future doctors took place at VGMU. Minister of Health Vladimir Karanik took part in the commission's work
"The immense attention that has been paid and continues to be paid to the work of doctors since the spread of coronavirus infection began, to how they have proven themselves, and this is heroic work without exaggeration, will significantly increase the prestige of our profession and attract even more people sincerely devoted to their cause to the ranks of medical workers," said Anatoly Shchastny.
According to him, today has its own peculiarities for the graduates, as the main stage of distribution, the preliminary one, took place earlier. The vast majority of students agreed with it and already know where they will work. Today, the final decision on this matter will be made regarding 39 young people. "The circumstances that required this are very diverse: a desire to change their professional aspect, marital status, relocation, etc.," the rector noted.
The head of the university paid special attention to the 80 graduates who, among the 300 medical university students, worked in Vitebsk clinics in recent months. The professional fate of some of them is being decided at today's commission meeting. "This fact will also be taken into account. We believe that by such an act, a person has already to some extent confirmed the correctness of their professional choice and showed their attitude to their work," emphasized Anatoly Shchastny.
The Minister of Health traditionally takes part in the commission for the distribution of graduates of medical universities. Today was no exception. "The staffing of the industry is a priority for us," emphasized Vladimir Karanik. "Personal participation allows us to understand what kind of personnel the healthcare system is equipped with, to better hear the needs of students, and to try to find a compromise between the graduate's desires and the capabilities of medical institutions."
In some cases, the place of work may change due to new circumstances. Where possible, the commission meets the young specialist halfway. "This contributes to increasing the comfort of the graduate's life, and also increases the chances of their retention in a new place after mandatory work. And we see that this approach works: every year the percentage of retention of our young personnel increases," the minister emphasized.
Today, the future place of work for obstetrician-gynecologist Daria Sergun was finally determined. It will be the maternity hospital in Novopolotsk. Initially, the girl's targeted distribution was to the Glubokoye Central District Hospital. The commission's decision was largely influenced by the fact that she had been working in the clinics of the regional center since her fourth year, including working in the regional clinical hospital during the difficult period of the rise of coronavirus infection. "For two months, during the re-profiling of the clinic, we worked with patients with pneumonia and coronavirus infection. Everyone was provided with personal protective equipment (spare masks, suits, protective screens), so we felt protected. We were pleased with the bonuses provided for by decree No. 131, which we all received in our department," notes the graduate. She will not have to start from scratch at her new job. "I have housing in Polotsk, I am from there, so I am very glad that I will start building my independent life in my small homeland," she added.
