The investigation into the criminal case of the brown bear's murder in the Senno district has been completed
July 24, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The investigation into the criminal case on the killing of a brown bear in the Senno district has been completed, the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Belarus for the Vitebsk region, Inna Gorbacheva, told a BELTA correspondent.
The criminal case has been transferred to the prosecutor's office of the Senno district for forwarding to court. The main suspect in the case, a resident of the Orsha district, has been remanded on his own recognizance. For the illegal extraction of a wild animal listed in the Red Book of Belarus and causing damage on a particularly large scale, he faces up to six years in prison.
The carcass of a young bear was found in late January by a gamekeeper of one of the forestry enterprises in the forest of the Senno district, which borders the Orsha district. The animal was killed near its den. During the investigation of this crime, a hunter with a license to hunt even-toed ungulates was identified. He deliberately used dogs to rouse the bear from hibernation, drove it into a corner, and then tried to conceal all traces. -0-
