The registration of candidates for deputies of local Councils will continue until January 18
The day before, on January 8, was the last day when a nominee or their representative could submit the necessary documents for candidate registration to the relevant territorial or district election commission.
As reported by the Central Election Commission, the exact number of citizens who nominated themselves to participate in the political campaign in 2018 will be announced in a few days. This is due to the fact that from a technical point of view, local elections are the most complex, and it takes time to collect information from all regions, consolidate it, and form an overall picture.
However, according to data from the end of December 2017, over 7.7 thousand people were nominated as candidates for deputies of local Councils. After registration, the election campaign will begin, lasting until February 17 inclusive.
The following day, February 18, local elections will be held. In total, slightly more than 18 thousand mandates will be distributed among the campaign participants. In the previous local elections in 2014, 22.7 thousand people were nominated as candidates for deputies.
