A regular bus route Vitebsk - Naples is planned to be launched this year

The topic, which is relevant in anticipation of the World Hockey Championship to be held in Belarus next year, was raised at a meeting of the joint commission on international freight and passenger transport, which recently took place in Rome. Sergey Negrey, Head of the Department of Strategic Development and Foreign Economic Activity of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus, reported that the parties agreed to introduce the Vitebsk – Naples route on the condition of non-stop transit through the territory of transit countries. Previously, the Belarusians proposed to define two stops in Germany with the approval of their German partners, but this position was not supported in Italy.

– The route will be serviced on a parity basis by private Belarusian and Italian operators who are willing to carry out transportation "behind closed doors," the head of the department clarified, emphasizing that the transport authorities of both countries will promptly issue permits upon receipt of relevant applications. – We expect this to happen this year, and we are awaiting applications from carriers.
