The rating of the most in-demand professions in Vitebsk is topped by seamstresses, sales assistants, and engineers
October 8, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Seamstresses, sales assistants, construction workers, and engineers are in steady demand in the Vitebsk labor market, Elena Torgan, head of the labor, employment, and social protection department of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent.
There are two vacancies for every unemployed person in the regional center, with 80-85% of them being blue-collar jobs. The top three most in-demand professions are seamstresses, sales assistants, and construction workers of all specialties. Among specialist vacancies, engineers, doctors, and foremen hold an undisputed lead.
As Elena Torgan noted, the Vitebsk employment service does not just state the fact of vacancy availability or unavailability but also conducts systematic career guidance work with young people. Specialists meet with final-year schoolchildren and tell them about the state of the labor market and employment opportunities in various specialties. In addition, at the employment center, schoolchildren can be helped to choose a future profession based on their personal characteristics, aptitudes, and interests using special tests.
The registered unemployment rate in Vitebsk is 0.6%. There are 1,059 unemployed people registered at the employment center. As a rule, these are long-term unemployed individuals dismissed by mutual agreement. Half of the unemployed have only secondary education, 14% have higher education, and the rest have vocational or secondary specialized education. -0-
