Reconstructed Palace of Culture opened in Orsha
The renovation here lasted for 10 months. During this time, workers repaired the roof, internal and external sewage systems, electricity supply, and water supply. Specialists insulated the building's facade, restored stucco molding inside and out, and created a barrier-free environment. New equipment was purchased for the cultural institution.
The renovated building houses a large concert hall, a conference hall equipped with a stage and dance floor, a costume room, a sewing workshop, and a decorator's workshop. There is also a circus rehearsal hall with the possibility of holding mini-performances, a recording studio, and choreography classes. The work was financed according to the state investment program.
Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev noted that initially there were two options for the future of the palace: to repair it or build a new one. After discussion, they decided to restore the building. "This is a significant object for Orsha, including architecturally. We found technical solutions, and construction began, but it would not have started without the help of the President: the reconstruction of such a palace would have been beyond the capacity of the district and regional budgets, it would have been difficult to cope," the governor added.

It is planned to hold competitions and festivals, presentations, exhibitions, children's programs, and master classes in design, floristry, sewing, and accessory making within the walls of the reconstructed Palace of Culture. More than 50 types of services will be provided on a paid basis.
Minister of Culture Yuri Bondar added that culture is not only about what happens on the capital's venues. First and foremost, it is the regions with their unique traditions. "The second birthday of the Palace of Culture will serve as a new impetus for the development of creative activities in the Orsha district. The builders did a great job preserving the historical appearance of the building and at the same time making the cultural facility meet high technical standards," the minister said. He reported that over 2,000 historical and cultural monuments have been restored in the country over the years of independence.

The Palace began its operation in 1957 as a cultural institution of the Orsha Flax Combine. In 2010, the building was transferred to the balance of the culture department of the district executive committee. Today, 19 associations of various directions (vocal, choreographic, theatrical, circus, and others) operate here, including nine for children. 442 people are engaged in the clubs. The institution has six folk ensembles and one with the title "Honored".-0-
