Reconstruction of the M3 highway Minsk-Vitebsk is underway in the Minsk region
"The fourth stage of the M3 Minsk-Vitebsk highway reconstruction (from km 56 to km 64) is being implemented, including the bypass of the urban settlement of Pleschenitsy. Construction is being carried out on an 8 km section located in the Logoisk district of the Minsk region. The work is being done in accordance with the head of state's directive of July 12, 2017, and is being carried out by the general contractor OAO "SMT No. 8," the press service said.
As noted in the Ministry of Transport, the M3 will become a four-lane highway and will comply with the standards of the first technical category. As for materials, heavy concrete 24 cm thick is used to create the new road surface. Two bridges over the Dvina and Derazhnya rivers will also be reconstructed.
Repair work on the section will favorably affect the development of the public life of the population. Along the M3 highway, there will be rest and trade areas equipped with special canopies. The project will modernize about 80 km.
Repair work on the site began in October 2019, and it is planned to be completed in December of the current year.
The M3 highway is one of the country's key transport arteries, connecting the capital with the regional center in Vitebsk; it is along this route that cargo flows move to Latvia and St. Petersburg.
