Reconstruction of Gagarin Street in Vitebsk: about 160 workers are employed at the construction site, with 20 units of equipment involved
The reconstruction of Gagarin Street in the regional center began in 2005. Two years later, the first two phases of the updated section were commissioned, but part of the road remained in its original state. Its improvement started in July. Currently, over 600 m of asphalt have been laid here, and landscaping is underway: lampposts are being installed, pedestrian paths are being created, and tiles are being laid. At the end of October, transport will be redirected to this section of the road – approximately from OJSC "Keramika" towards the city exit.

In total, the builders need to lay a 3 km road. In November, half of this distance is planned to be completed on one side of the city artery.
Currently, about 160 workers and 20 units of equipment are involved in the construction. "The most important and global aspect here is the underground utilities. After their inspection, it turned out that about 80% of the networks are unfit for operation. Some utilities have already been switched to new branches without causing inconvenience to local residents. Specialists worked around the clock, doing a colossal job," noted Dmitry Dukhnov. In the future, all rainwater from the street will pass through three treatment facilities installed under the new road and be discharged into the Vitba River.

The chief engineer added that the updated street will be higher than before. This is due to traffic safety requirements.
The estimated cost of the street reconstruction is Br39 million. The work is planned to be completed by July 2021.
