The retrospective exhibition in Vitebsk is dedicated to the theme of the small homeland

December 29, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The exhibition "In Search of Atlantis. Retrospective", which opened today at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, is dedicated to the theme of the small homeland, the correspondent of BELTA was informed by the cultural institution. The exhibition features about 50 of the best paintings created by Minsk, Polotsk and Vitebsk artists over the past five years during plein airs within the "In Search of Atlantis" project. Its initiators are Polotsk poet Lera Som and artist Ekaterina Myasnikova. Together with interested painters, art critics, local historians, and writers, they annually travel to historically significant settlements, as well as remote villages of their small homeland. The works reflect what the artists have seen: old houses, ancient churches and chapels, abandoned cemeteries, dilapidated estates that once shone with their beauty and wealth. All these objects, interspersed with colorful natural landscapes, leave a subtle impression of loss, the fragility of existence. Moving from one work to another, the viewer catches themselves thinking about searching, involuntarily seeking the lost Belarusian Atlantis along with the authors. -0-
