A jealous suitor tracked his acquaintance's phone calls for two years, the deputy head of the department for supervision of investigations in internal affairs bodies of the Vitebsk region prosecutor's office, Natalia Fedorenko, told a BELTA correspondent. The 24-year-old student was driven to commit unlawful acts by his ardent love for a classmate who did not reciprocate his feelings. The communication between the young people was limited to classes at the university and joint celebrations in common companies. The girl did not take the guy's courtship seriously, considering him just a friend, and refused dates. In a fit of jealousy, "Othello" decided to find out whose heart the beauty belonged to. To do this, under the pretext of looking at it, he asked the girl for her mobile phone and discreetly connected the call detail service to his email. The jealous man, naturally, provided his own address. For two years, the girl was surprised by the increased bills for her calls, until she finally found out about the connected additional service at the service center. Even more surprised, she decided to find out who needed her phone records and contacted the police. Law enforcement officers quickly identified the secret admirer. Now, a criminal case has been initiated against the young man for unauthorized access to confidential information under Part 2 of Article 349 and Article 352 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, the maximum penalty for which provides for up to two years of imprisonment. -0-
