The reserves of the Orsha district allow it to be brought to leading positions in the country – Nikolai Sherstnev

The reserves of the Orsha district allow it to be brought to the forefront in the country. This opinion was shared with journalists by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, commenting on the Address of the Head of State to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly.

Nikolai Sherstnev, together with the employees of the regional executive committee, worked in Levki last Saturday. Large-scale work on pruning trees, clearing leaves, and landscaping unfolded here. "Orshanshchina is a beautiful region with good land. It is the breadbasket of our region," the governor emphasized.

At the same time, he noted with regret that the district has now significantly lagged behind in its development. "We have even lost the results we had in Soviet times, we have fallen down, and some indicators have decreased by 2 times or more. Thus, the Head of State has set the task to restore Orshanshchina's former glory and multiply it. Together with the government, ministries, and departments, we will do everything necessary to make the Orsha district a blooming region with 100% employment, where young people will stay," said Nikolai Sherstnev. Commenting on the main messages of the Address, the governor stressed that the most important thing is effective, result-oriented work.

"We all want to live better, we want a better life for our children. And there is only one way to achieve this - we must work seriously, dedicating ourselves to our work. Every day of ours today should be aimed at the benefit of tomorrow," the head of the region summarized.

In general, throughout the region, during the субботник (subbotnik - voluntary work day), labor collectives were tidying up the territories adjacent to enterprises and organizations, and roadside strips. Residents of the region were engaged in landscaping memorable places, parks and squares, children's health camps, and museum complexes. In particular, in Vitebsk, the main work unfolded in the Park of the 70th Anniversary of Victory, on the burial site of concentration camp prisoners "5th Regiment," and in the Park of the Soviet Army. Residents of Polotsk worked on objects that are being renovated for the Day of Belarusian Written Language. In addition, the district leadership decided to tidy up during the labor action,

improve children's playgrounds in settlements.
