Residents of the FEZ "Vitebsk" increased exports by more than a quarter in the first half of the year

Residents of FEZ "Vitebsk" exported products worth $182 million in January-June 2017, which is more than 25% higher than the same period in 2016, said the head of the FEZ administration, Sergey Yurkevich.

During this period, resident enterprises produced products worth about Br306 million. The share of exports in the total production volume exceeded 70%. Shipments were made to the markets of 10 CIS countries and 28 far abroad countries. To develop and technically re-equip production, companies attracted $14 million, including more than $5 million in net direct foreign investment. 145 new jobs were created. One of the landmark investment projects implemented in 2017 was the plant for the production of trade equipment by LLC "Modern-Expo" of the international holding of the same name. The official opening of the first start-up complex took place in May. Founders from the Netherlands, Poland, and Belarus invested more than $11 million in the creation and development of the enterprise.

"The project will significantly increase the export potential of the Vitebsk region and will allow local enterprises to establish cooperation with the international holding company," noted Sergey Yurkevich.

FEZ "Vitebsk" was established in 1999, occupies an area of over 2.4 thousand hectares and consists of 13 sectors, including seven in Vitebsk, four in Orsha, and one each in Vitebsk and Postavy districts. 37 enterprises with capital from 12 countries operate as residents of the FEZ in areas such as machine building, electronics, veterinary medicine, chemical, fuel, food, light industry, and others.
