Relatives of Polish citizens who died in the Smolensk crash headed through Vitebsk to the crash site

October 10, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. A delegation of relatives of Polish citizens who died in the plane crash near Smolensk in April this year passed through Vitebsk to the Smolensk region to the crash site. Two airliners with grieving relatives were received by Vitebsk airport early this morning, a BELTA correspondent reports. As the Chargé d'affaires of Poland in the Republic of Belarus Witold Jurasz told reporters, today marks six months since the tragedy of April 10, which claimed the lives of Polish President Lech Kaczynski, his wife, and other high-ranking Polish officials. Relatives and the wife of the current president, Anna Komorowska, arrived to honor their memory. From Vitebsk, the delegation departed for Katyn, where mourning ceremonies will be held, wreaths will be laid, and candles will be lit. The diplomat expressed his deep gratitude to the leadership of Belarus for the assistance provided in receiving Polish citizens. "We have once again received comprehensive assistance from the Belarusian authorities - from protocol to technical. Transport has been provided, the delegation's escort has been ensured, and customs and border procedures have been simplified as much as possible," said Witold Jurasz. This evening, the delegation intends to return to Poland, again using the services of Vitebsk airport. -0-
