Russian businesswoman is building a temple in her hometown in the Gorodok district
November 15, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. A Russian businesswoman is building a church in her native village of Bychikha, Gorodok district, the Vitebsk Eparchial Administration informed a BELTA correspondent.
There has never been a church in Bychikha, but the local Orthodox residents strongly urged the eparchy to build one. And now, a native of the village, who now lives in the Russian capital and runs a business there, has decided to build a church in honor of the Pskov-Caves Icon of the Mother of God "Tenderness" using funds from a foundation she established. Construction began in the spring of this year, and on November 16, a ceremony will be held to consecrate the church's dome with a cross and to hoist a set of 10 bells onto the belfry.
According to the eparchy's representative, Father Vladimir (Rezanovich), this is currently the only church in the eparchy being built solely with funds from a philanthropist. -0-
