Russian businessmen are mastering the Braslav Lakes

July 21, Minsk / Andrey Asfura - BELTA /. Russian investors are implementing projects for the construction of tourist infrastructure facilities near the territory of the Braslav Lakes National Park. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Viktor Yankovenko, Director of the Department for Tourism of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of Belarus. Currently, Russian investors are building a large complex near the national park, designed to receive and accommodate tourists. There are other projects in various stages of implementation. "Accommodation options in the Braslav district are limited," noted the director of the department. "In summer, the recreation centers on the Braslav Lakes are packed with vacationers." Therefore, projects for the construction of hotels and recreation centers in these places are very promising. In addition, in the coming years, it is planned to equip a beach along the city coast of Lake Drivyaty in the Braslav district, as well as to build a hydrotherapy clinic in the village of Vidzy-Lovchinskie. As previously reported, Russian businessmen considered the possibility of implementing investment projects even on the territory of the national park. However, they were primarily interested in specific business projects and guarantees of return on investment. The Braslav Lakes National Park was established in 1995 for the purpose of preserving unique ecosystems, efficient and more complete use of the recreational opportunities of the natural resources of the Braslav district and the natural complex of the Braslav Lakes group. The National Park is located in the northwest of Belarus in the Braslav district of the Vitebsk region and covers an area of 69,115 hectares. The historically formed landscape of these places, the genetic fund of vegetation and fauna are typical for the Belarusian Lake District, and at the same time, it is called a standard of the landscapes of the Baltic lake districts. These lands are truly unique - the glacier left here a bizarre lace of lakes, height differences near them between the tops and the bottom of the hollows reach 40-60 m. The Braslav Lakes are the main treasure of the national park. The landscapes of the complex hollows of the lakes Strusto, Snudy, Nespish and Nedrovo are of particular beauty. On Lake Strusto, there is the second largest island in Belarus - Chaychin, which has an internal body of water. The lakes of Braslav region are the southern border of the distribution of relict invertebrates, which serve as indicators of clean water. Forests cover a quarter of the park's area. 16% of the territory is occupied by swamps. About 45 species of mammals, 200 species of birds, 10 species of amphibians and 6 species of reptiles inhabit the park. Typical forest dwellers include elk, wild boar, roe deer, squirrel, mountain hare, European hare, fox, raccoon dog, wolf, pine marten, otter, mink. Among rare species, badgers, lynx, and brown bears, which are listed in the Red Book of Belarus, have been noted.
