Russian journalists proposed to make Polotsk a Orthodox Mecca
September 30, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Russian journalists proposed to make Polotsk an all-Orthodox shrine. They voiced their idea today at a press conference of the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets in Vitebsk, BELTA correspondent reports.
Yuri Sluyanov, General Director and Editor-in-Chief of the "Young Culture of Siberia" television and radio company from Novosibirsk, admitted that for him Polotsk, the birthplace and place of deeds of Saint Euphrosyne of Polotsk, has long become such a place. In his opinion, the ancient city deserves to be a place where Orthodox pilgrims from all over the world flock, like Medina.
Alexander Kosinets agreed that Polotsk's fame is well-deserved. "However, we do not know how to advertise ourselves, we do not know how to glorify our shrines," the governor said with bitterness. This work is necessary, it is just beginning, he added. -0-
