Russian investor has directed over $1.5 million to a woodworking project in the Chashniksky district

A Russian investor has channeled over $1.5 million into a woodworking project in Chashniki District, as reported by Sergey Mishulkov, Head of the Economics Department of the Chashniki District Executive Committee.

OOO "WoodenKit" plans to launch the production of furniture board. The company occupies a plot of land purchased by the investor after the liquidation of the Chashniki Interdistrict Base. Construction work began last year. Sorting lines, log debarking, sawing, and vacuum drying lines will be installed on the production site. The company is currently awaiting the delivery of foreign equipment. Project financing is ongoing, with $720,000 received in January-September. The construction of the woodworking plant is scheduled for completion in 2022. The enterprise will create about 200 jobs, primarily for residents of Chashniki District.

Another major industrial project is planned for implementation in Novolukoml. OOO "Lukomlsky Cannery" has been registered here. The company specializes in the production of fruit and vegetable and fish products. The construction of a multifunctional plant will commence in 2021, and the enterprise is expected to reach full production capacity in 2024. Currently, a land plot of almost 29.6 hectares is being transferred and processed for construction. Previously, it belonged to "Vitebskenergo," and it houses compressor and diesel locomotive depot buildings. The cannery will create over 50 jobs. Direct foreign investment in the project will exceed 2 million euros.

"The advantageous geography and logistics of the region allow us to attract foreign citizens for the implementation of various projects, including opening enterprises of all forms of ownership. This year, seven new residents have come to Chashniki District," noted Sergey Mishulkov. In addition to the already listed areas, new enterprises will be involved in trade, agriculture, parking services, and the restaurant business.

Touching upon the work of the district's economic bloc, Sergey Mishulkov emphasized that industrial production has increased over the nine months of this year: Br63.5 million worth of products were released at actual selling prices, or 105% compared to the same period in 2019. The physical volume index for January-September was 101%. Overall in the district, the output of men's workwear (123.5% compared to the same period last year), wrapping sulphite paper (126.8%), paper bags and sacks (198.4%), boxes, cases, and containers of corrugated paper or cardboard (153.3%), expanded clay (116.2%) and building blocks (104.7%), sanitary equipment and shut-off valves (112.9%), doors (121.8%) has increased.

Despite the challenging epidemiological situation, enterprises in the Chashniki district maintain a stable work dynamic. Many are increasing their production pace. The highest results were achieved by OJSC "Chashniki Spetsoodezhda" (product growth in physical terms for January-September was 115.4%), OJSC "Kramzit Gravel Plant of Novolukoml" (108.5%), and LLC "Portman" (120.2%).
