A Russian investor is implementing a project for the production of composite reinforcement in Polotsk

The Russian company "StekloPlast" (Volzhsky, Volgograd Region) is implementing an investment project for the production of composite rebar at the FEZ "Vitebsk" site in Polotsk.

The General Director of this enterprise, Evgeny Matveev, is taking part in the ninth International Economic Forum, which is being held on December 2-3 in Vitebsk:

- At the forum in Vitebsk, we are presenting our plant and holding negotiations on organizing joint production with the enterprise "Polotsk-Steklovolokno". Our plans include a joint investment project for the production of composite rebar. This is an innovative product that offers a cost-effective alternative to traditional steel rods used in various structures and buildings. The initial investment volume will exceed 50 million Russian rubles.

According to Evgeny Matveev, by now, partners only need to complete the legal part of the paperwork, after which they will immediately proceed to the technical block. Work on it is already underway. It is planned that the first phase of the investment project will be completed by the end of March 2022. The initial production output on two lines will be 200,000 kilometers per month. By the end of the year, it is projected to reach 1 million kilometers due to the expansion of production capacities.

In accordance with the project, new jobs will be created. The staff will consist of about 20 employees. The investor has no doubts about the demand for the product:

- It will find its application in Belarus and Russia, and will also be in demand in Europe.

A two-day International Economic Forum opened in Vitebsk today. It was attended by over 30 business delegations and representatives of the diplomatic corps from 15 countries.

This year, for the first time, a number of events at the forum are being held online to increase the number of participants and taking into account the current epidemiological situation. A virtual exhibition of economic entities of the Vitebsk region and foreign partners will operate throughout the year, until the next Forum. Following the results of the panel discussions, forum participants hold negotiations in five rooms on the following areas of activity: Industry. Construction. Agriculture. Tourism. Education.
