Russian fashion designer praised the Orsha Linen Mill collection

Российский модельер оценил коллекцию Оршанского льнокомбината

All ten outfits presented to the jury and the public by Tamara Volodko were sold out immediately after the show.

Tamara Volodko, the leading fashion designer-constructor of the Orsha Linen Mill, brought back a finalist diploma and original jewelry as a gift from the latest fashion forum. For the ninth year in a row, the international festival "Plyos on the Volga. Linen Palette" revives the ancient Russian town with its colors and becomes a unique event in the cultural life not only of Plyos but of all of Russia. It is here that fashion analysts and journalists, numerous participants and guests, and designers from Russia, Belarus, Armenia, and the Baltic countries gather. This year's forum brought together about 30 young designers, 25 children's fashion theaters, and professionals in the art of design. The president of the festival is Vyacheslav Zaitsev, People's Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation, and academician.

Tamara Volodko from Orsha also presented her new collection "Linen Rhapsody" at the fashion forum.

– This is my fourth time participating in this fashion festival, – says Tamara Vladimirovna. – In 2010, our collection titled "Linen Kaleidoscope" won the festival's highest award – the "Silver Phoenix". In 2006 and 2007, the designs "Ethno" and "The Final Exam" also reached the finals and were awarded diplomas.

The forum's level grows every year, and something new emerges. For instance, this summer, for the first time, maxi-fashion was showcased: ready-to-wear for plus-size women. The bold ideas of the designers and their creative findings were also impressive.

Such forums are instrumental in promoting the development of the linen fashion industry, establishing international economic ties, and shaping the market. All aspects of the event program were noteworthy: the competitive fashion show of clothing collections made from linen, cotton, and silk fabrics, and linen yarn; the festival of children's fashion theaters; the "Petrovskaya Fair"; and the celebration of Plyos City Day. And, of course, the gala show of works by fashion designers, where the new collection from the Orsha Linen Mill garnered admiration and positive feedback.

All 10 outfits presented to the jury and the public by Tamara Volodko were sold out immediately after the show. And this is not surprising – one can fall in love with jacquard linen products at first sight. In the post-Soviet space, only the Orsha Linen Mill produces such fabric on new equipment. The highlight of the suits was the jacquard half-linen fabric (83% linen and 17% cotton) called "Enigma". It was developed by the enterprise's specialists – designer Tatyana Sazonova together with artist Vera Nikishina as part of research work. The uniqueness of this fabric is that after softening, it gains volume and is perfectly suited for tailoring spring-autumn coats and jackets. It was the outerwear components of the sets that became the find of the collection, following the latest trends in linen fashion.

Tamara Volodko became convinced of this when she visited the second largest exhibition in Europe, CPM, which took place in Moscow last week.

– It's a huge venue of 250 sq. m with pavilions, – the designer shares her impressions. – For example, the Italian section alone was represented by 180 manufacturing companies, the French one – by over 200. I was pleasantly surprised by the collections of the Swedes based on Baltic linen lace (it was also used in some models of "Linen Rhapsody") and… by Orsha linen fabrics!

By the way, leading technologies in the creation of linen outerwear are already being used in their developments by major Belarusian manufacturers. For example, "Elema" is purchasing fabrics from the Orsha Linen Mill for its collection "Spring – Summer 2015".

Regarding the models

"Linen Rhapsody", which were highly praised by Vyacheslav Zaitsev and other jury members, the first 25 exclusive items are already being sewn based on them and will be available in the republic's retail network at the end of September.
