The Russian theater "Amethyst" opens "Theater Meetings" of the XXI "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk"
July 12, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The "Theater Meetings" program of the XXI International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" includes nine plays by Russian, Belarusian, and Latvian theaters, the forum's directorate informed a BELTA correspondent.
The main venue for theatergoers to meet their favorite actors, including Galina Polskikh, Valentin Smirnitsky, Tatyana Kravchenko, Alexey Panin, Rostislav Yankovsky, Valentina Talyzina, Yulia Menshova, and other famous names, will traditionally be the stage of the Yakub Kolas National Academic Drama Theater. A total of seven plays will be staged here. The festival audience will see the first of them today: the production company "Amethyst" (Russia) will present the play "Madame the Minister" about an ambitious lady whose husband has become a minister. Her husband's new position has become a reason for the main character to change everything: the interior of the house, her daughter's husband... Madame the Minister is not stopped by the fact that her daughter loves her husband and is happy with him. When a candidate meeting the requirements for the daughter's husband is found, the son-in-law is declared persona non grata. The son-in-law accepts the challenge and begins to fight to save his family. The lady also wants to learn the rules of elite life, hires a tutor, and learns that a socialite should go to casinos, smoke, and have a lover.
In the coming days, the theater will host the plays "Valentine's Day" by the Contemporary Theater of Entrepreneurship (Russia), the ironic detective story "The Trap" by the International Theater Company "ART" (Russia), and the tragicomedy "Baba Chanel" by the Moscow Theater on the South-West (Russia). On July 14 and 15, in addition to the performances at the Yakub Kolas Theater, the program's plays will be shown on the stage of the "Vitebsk" concert hall. Fans of Melpomene will have to make a difficult choice between "Panie Kochanku" by the Maxim Gorky National Academic Drama Theater (Belarus) and Mikhail Zadornov's play "I Want to Buy Your Husband," as well as the melodrama with elements of comedy "Women's Happiness" by the Daugavpils Drama Theater (Latvia) and the comedy "An Adventurous Family, or How to Steal a Million" by the "Millennium" Theater House, as the start time for all performances is invariably 7:00 PM.
The "Theater Meetings-2012" program will conclude with a performance by the creative team of the K.S. Stanislavsky Moscow Drama Theater (Russia) with the production "Molière" (The Cabal of Hypocrites) about the eternal conflict between the Artist and Power.
The theater project is one of the most successful at the festival. This year, as in previous years, coveted tickets for it were sold out in a matter of days. -0-
