Rassony agrarians help to harvest crops in the Ushachy district

In the Rossony district, the harvesting campaign is almost complete. But there are districts that have only passed the midpoint of the harvest. On August 25, four crews from the agricultural enterprise "Klyastitsy-Agro" set off in their combines to the Ushachy district – neighbors are waiting for help.

It is not yet known how many days the "landing party" of harvesters will take. But to minimize losses of the neighboring harvest, the experienced and responsible combine operators and assistants were entrusted with the "steering": Sergey Abychaykin and Robert Skovorodko, Igor Tsygankov and Denis Ivanov, Evgeny Pishchulenok and Vsevolod Studenkov, Anatoly Danchenko and Ilya Korotkevich.

– In my practice, we are providing such assistance for the first time. I think any work is easier to cope with together, especially now that all forces in the country are thrown into harvesting the crops, – is confident combine operator Igor Tsygankov.

Together with his assistant Denis Ivanov, he leads the column of equipment. The 80-kilometer journey is unusual for the machine operators, but why not make it: the interest is state and personal – the agrarians are hoping for decent pay. In general, the harvest is the time that the harvesters wait for all year to work well and earn good money. The main thing is that the equipment does not fail and the weather is favorable.

Igor is well known in the district. He came to the farm in 2008, and immediately started working on a combine. He worked as an assistant for two seasons, then took the "controls". There is no doubt: he can overhaul the harvesting machine with his eyes closed, he has a lot of experience. He has repeatedly won district competitions among young machine operators. He also taught his assistant the craft. This year, Evgeny Pishchulenok is already operating the combine independently. So the machine operators are fighting for the harvest not in one cabin, but in the field, and also competing to see who has the larger threshed amount.

This harvest, Igor has threshed over 500 tons. This is more than last year, but his personal record of 820 tons set in 2020 has not yet been broken – there is still room for improvement. Evgeny is also trying not to fall behind. They plan to catch up on the fields in Ushachi. Perhaps they will also become "thousand-tonners". On the Rossony lands, characterized by their small contours, this is practically impossible. Here, even 100 tons of threshed grain is comparable to a thousand. It is in their interest to finish faster – they are expected at home.

– We need to get moving, every minute in the field is worth its weight in gold, – urges the young man his partners.

Anatoly Danchenko cheerfully jumps onto the combine's footboard. He missed the harvest for four consecutive years, but this year he did not refuse the farm management.

– The machine park is old, but we take care of the equipment, and "heal" it where needed. My unit is 11 years old, which is very old for a combine. It's working hard, but what else can you do! Of course, it's more familiar to work at home, but I don't mind helping the neighbors. We'll manage, the mood is cheerful and combative – smiles the tanned machine operator and gets into the cabin.

Sergey Abaychaykin has managed to harvest 700 tons of grain. He is in second place among the leaders of the district's harvest. It so happened that today is the farmer's birthday.

– What a gift, – he jokes. – It's okay, I'll celebrate on the road. Why refuse? We need to help. The common harvest is a common cause. If it rains again – autumn is near, the ears will fall, we will lose the bread. And we've grown a decent crop. What difference does it make which district we harvest in, we all eat from the whole country. Thank you for the weather not being capricious. We are moving at a good pace.

The machinery lined up in a column. Four red Gomselmash "Palesse" machines set off.

– Well, Godspeed! – blessed the farmers on their way the deputy chairman of the district executive committee, Alexander Stukan. According to him, the combine operators who stayed home have no time to rest on their laurels. They need to harvest the remaining 10 percent of the area and start harvesting rapeseed and buckwheat. The total grain harvest this year will be around nine thousand tons. For Rossony, the smallest northern region of the country, this is a good indicator.

– Our neighbors have grown a good crop of grain. Yes, they are behind schedule with harvesting, which means we need to lend a hand, – emphasizes the Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Vladimir Bykov. – The concept of mutual assistance and support is well known to the field workers. We are also following the clear task of the Head of State – to harvest the crop without losses and on time. Thanks to the fact that the Rossony farm initially chose the right strategy, and also got lucky with the weather, they finished harvesting in the fields faster. Yes, there are still many agricultural works ahead, but the grain harvest is a priority.

– As a rule, the redeployment of equipment and assistance to lagging regions is an annual practice, – adds the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Korotkevich. – The Rossony district will help Ushachy, and Vitebsk will help Gorodok, where 54 and 56 percent of the areas have been harvested. This is done to complete the harvesting campaign on time. In total, more than 80 percent of the areas have been harvested across the region. In terms of threshed grain, we are ahead of the previous year.
