The Rossony and Shumilino districts were the first in the Vitebsk region to count their horse-drawn transport, the agitation and propaganda department of the traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee told a BELTA correspondent. Registration of horse-drawn transport in the region has been carried out since the beginning of August. During this time, about 2.1 thousand carts and wagons have been registered, 1682 of which belong to private owners and almost 380 to farms and agricultural enterprises. All of them passed technical inspection and were equipped with license plates before registration. The decision to register horse-drawn carts was made in order to ensure road traffic safety, bring them into compliance with established rules, and reduce accidents involving this type of transport. This procedure is carried out free of charge at the district and city traffic police departments or at the location of the transport according to developed schedules. At the same time, only carts used on public roads are required to undergo this procedure. In addition to the Rossony and Shumilino districts, which have completed this procedure and counted 37 and 60 carts respectively, registration is proceeding quite successfully in the Sharkovshchina, Postavy and Braslav districts.
