Salary growth will be ensured by liquid products and high labor productivity - Mayor of Novopolotsk
September 13, Novopolotsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Wage growth should be ensured by the production of liquid products and an increase in labor productivity. This conviction was expressed today at a press conference by the Chairperson of the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee, Natalya Kochanova, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent.
The need to fulfill the task of wage growth and real monetary incomes of the population, announced by the President at a recent meeting on the economy's performance for the past period of 2012, assessment of the year's results and draft forecasts, budget and monetary policy for 2013, is obvious, the mayor believes. "The fulfillment of socio-economic development forecast indicators is necessary not for the sake of the indicators themselves, but for the sake of achieving decent wages for employees. However, this can be achieved when there are modernized enterprises and production facilities with high labor productivity. Undoubtedly, wages must be earned," believes Natalya Kochanova.
The mayor of the oil city assigns the main role in achieving the set tasks to the corps of directors and management teams. "Their task is to create normal working conditions and ensure the production of in-demand, competitive products. Every manager must be interested in their enterprise being modern, products not accumulating in warehouses, and being liquid," she added.
According to data for January-August of the current year, in Novopolotsk, inventories of finished products amount to 6.9% of the total output. The growth rate of industrial production in January-August was 245.1%. Labor productivity in industry during this period reached 230%. The average wage in Novopolotsk in July was Br5,111 thousand, and in August - Br5,420 thousand. Thus, in January-August, the average monthly wage in the oil city reached the target set for the end of the year and amounted to Br4,519 thousand. As Natalya Kochanova emphasized, this figure was achieved not only through petrochemical enterprises. "At some private enterprises, the average wage is higher than at OJSC Naftan," noted Natalya Kochanova.
The Chairperson of the City Executive Committee considers leveling wages across the city's enterprises to be her main task, therefore, based on the results of 9 months, the city authorities have set a goal for enterprise managers: the average wage should be at least Br3 million. -0-
