Heads of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee landscaped the memorial in Rossony during a subbotnik

Руководители Витебского облисполкома на субботнике благоустраивали мемориал в Россонах
The leadership of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee dedicated today's labor event to the memory of the renowned native of the region, Petr Masherov.

In the year of the 100th anniversary of the outstanding statesman, Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Socialist Labor Petr Masherov, representatives of the regional executive committee, led by its chairman Nikolai Sherstnev, held a subbotnik in Rossony. This land, thanks to Masherov, entered the history of the Great Patriotic War as a land of partisan glory - here the underground resistance organized by Petr Mironovich was active.

Participants of the labor event laid flowers at the stele at the execution site of the underground fighters and at the Alley of Glory to the heroes of Rossony, which was opened in February 2018 for the 100th anniversary of Masherov.

The main place of effort was the memorial complex of the urban settlement of Rossony. Here, work was carried out to improve the territory. The complex was erected in 1965 on the burial site of over 2.5 thousand Soviet soldiers and partisans. Here also rest the members of the Rossony underground group, shot by the fascists on September 16, 1942. On that day, Petr Masherov's mother, Daria Petrovna, was also killed.

The memorial complex is of great importance for the patriotic education of the younger generation. Every year, rallies are held here on Victory Day, Belarus Liberation Day from the Nazi invaders. This place is visited by guests of Rossony, relatives and former colleagues of the fallen from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other countries come here.
