The leadership of the Vitebsk region addressed congratulations on Victory Day and the Day of the State Emblem and the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus
Dear Residents of the Region!
We congratulate you on Victory Day and the Day of the State Emblem and the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus!
The merging of these dates signifies the unity and strength of the people, their loyalty to historical traditions, and their aspiration for the future.
May 9 will forever remain a symbol of popular triumph, might, and the indomitable national character. This great holiday of liberation from tragedy, death, and destruction was won by the force of arms, the resilience, and the cohesion of the Soviet people.
The heroic frontier of the liberation struggle against the Hitlerite invaders also ran through the Vitebsk region. Thousands of feats of our compatriots who drove the enemy from our land are known. German divisions met their inglorious end on the battlefields, fully experiencing the nationwide hatred.
Alongside pride in the courage of fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers who resisted the aggressor, we forever carry the pain, sorrow, and grief for irreparable losses. The region lost every third resident.
For three-quarters of a century, we have not known war. This makes the achievements of the Great Victory even more poignant and our obligations to preserve its legacy even stricter. Having gone through the roads of severe trials and opened an era of peaceful accomplishments, the front-line soldiers, partisans, underground fighters, and home front workers left an important testament: to cherish the freedom and independence of the state gifted to us. In this lies the source of devoted service to our native land, national unity, and peacefulness.
Dear friends! May Victory and the memory of it always be with us – in our hearts, in our creative endeavors, and in our care for the older generation! We sincerely wish you strong health, well-being, high spirits, and happiness!
