This holiday embodies pain and tears of joy, the memory of the heart, carefully preserved in families. The feat of front-line soldiers, partisans, underground fighters, and home front workers is forever inscribed in history as a symbol of national glory and pride.
The fiery storm of battles did not bypass Vitebsk region. The region lost every third resident.
From the very first days of the war, it became clear: our people will never surrender to the enemy. German divisions met their inglorious end on the battlefields, fully experiencing the strength of character and greatness of spirit of the Soviet people.
The Victory won by the older generation provides moral guidelines and a foundation for creation. The memory of the past, of the severe trials endured, urges us towards the noble goals of effective and dynamic development of a sovereign state.
The veterans who remain in service are a moral support for contemporaries, whose duty is to protect the freedom and independence gifted to us.
