The leadership of the Vitebsk region congratulated veterans and residents of the region on Victory Day
Dear veterans of the Great Patriotic War!
Dear residents of the region!
May 9th marks the triumph of good and the salvation of humanity, embodying the greatest courage and boundless spirit of our people.
Among those who first took the blow of the hated enemy in June 1941 was our native Belarus, our Vitebsk region. The genocide of the Belarusian people remains an unhealed wound in people's hearts. In the Vitebsk region alone, during the Great Patriotic War, 222 settlements were burned down with their inhabitants, 108 of which were never rebuilt.
With the deepest respect, we pay tribute to the fallen on the fiery battlefields, those burned alive, shot, and died from wounds in hospitals. We express our gratitude for the military and peaceful labor to the generation of victors – guardians of historical truth, bearers of traditions of national unity, resilience, and love for the Motherland.
The heroic past urges us towards the noble goals of developing a sovereign state, understanding the need to cherish the acquired freedom and independence. In this lies the source of devoted service to our native land.
May the memory of the great feat help us to confront challenges and difficulties, inspire us to new achievements for the sake of preserving peace on our land, and ensure a happy life for future generations of Belarusians.
We sincerely wish you good health, well-being, high spirits, and happiness!
Happy Victory Day!
