The Romanian performing school will be presented for the first time at the organ music festival in Polotsk
October 27, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. The Romanian organ performance school will be represented for the first time at the XV International Festival of Organ Music "Bells of Sofia", which will be held from October 28 to November 28 in the concert hall of the Sofia Cathedral in Polotsk. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Lilia Emelyanova, head of the concert department of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve.
The concert by the renowned Romanian organist Felician Rosca will feature ancient works from the 17th-19th centuries, and admirers of the "king of instruments" will be able to get an idea and form impressions of the performance mastery of a recognized master of one of the European schools and his interpretations of organ classics.
In total, performers from six countries will perform in Polotsk: Belarus, Russia, Poland, Austria, Ukraine, and Romania. A distinctive feature of this year's music forum will be the diversity of concert programs and the abundance of new names on the festival poster. The festival is held within the framework of the republican campaign "Cultural Capital of 2010 - Polotsk" and is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the organ of the Sofia Cathedral, which is celebrated this year.
The opening concert on October 28 will be kindly performed by a friend of the festival, the famous Polish musician Roman Perucki. The director of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, the chief organist of the Gdansk Cathedral, leads an active concert career, but despite his busy schedule, he always responds to invitations to perform in Polotsk, and his participation in the program is a great honor for the festival, noted Lilia Emelyanova. And then the Polotsk audience will discover new performers for themselves.
Belarusian organist and composer Olga Podgaiskaya, in ensemble with the Symphony Orchestra of the National State Television and Radio Company of Belarus and Polish conductor Czeslaw Grabowski, will present organ music classics and original works. By the way, all festival participants have included music by contemporary composers in their programs along with classical works. The concert by Austrian performer Natascha Reich (this is another festival debut) is titled "Austrian Music of Five Centuries." And Maria Makarenko, who became the first Russian organist to be honored to play at the Holy Mass by the Pope in the Vatican, has composed her first performance in the Sofia Cathedral at the festival, along with the genre's classics, from symphonic works by the popular composer Mikael Tariverdiev.
In addition, musicians will pay tribute to the renowned Russian organist and composer Oleg Yanchenko, who 25 years ago first presented the unique capabilities of the Sofia Cathedral organ. His works will become part of the program of the permanent participant and author of the idea of holding Polotsk festivals, organist Ksenia Pogorela, and the chamber orchestra "Europe-Center" under the direction of Rail Sadykov.-0-
