The Russian Tea Room will introduce visitors to the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore to tea ceremonies from different countries

December 8, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. An unusual non-commercial facility will open on December 9 at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore. The Russian tea room will invite visitors to learn about tea ceremonies of different countries and taste tea, the museum informed a BELTA correspondent. The exhibition "Habits of Sweet Antiquity" has gathered over 300 exhibits from the 18th century to the 1960s from the museum's collections and private collections. These are collections of samovars, teapots, tea sets, tea pairs, glass holders and other tableware for a pleasant tea party made of silver, porcelain and faience, created in China, Japan, Austria, Germany, England, Poland, Russia. Three halls were needed to accommodate all the utensils, each of which has a specific ambiance. For example, one hall is stylized as a Russian tea room of the 18th-19th centuries, the second reproduces a fragment of the dining room of the house of the famous Vitebsk architect Tikhon Kibardin based on a preserved photograph. The last hall recreates the atmosphere of the first half of the 20th century. And so that the exhibition visitors truly feel like guests from the future who unexpectedly found themselves in an old tea room, they will be offered a cup of tea, kindly provided by one of the domestic producers of this drink. -0-
