From April 1 to 5, the main stage of the special complex event "Arsenal" is being held in the Vitebsk region.

С 1 по 5 апреля на Витебщине проводится основной этап специальных комплексных мероприятий «Арсенал»

As part of this annual campaign, law enforcement agencies urge the public to comply with the rules for storing registered firearms, and also warn about the responsibility for the illegal storage and carrying of firearms, ammunition, and explosives. The police also remind: those who voluntarily surrender such dangerous and unregistered "property" to the relevant authorities are automatically exempted from punishment provided for "offending" owners.

By the way, as of today, there are more than 13 thousand civilian firearm owners registered in the Vitebsk region, who possess over 16 thousand units of weapons. But experience shows that not all owners are reliable and law-abiding. For example, as reported by Alexander Rybakov, Head of the Public Order and Prevention Department of the Zheleznodorozhny District Department of Internal Affairs of Vitebsk, in the first quarter of the current year alone, three people in the district have been brought to justice for violating registration deadlines, three permits have been revoked, and two units of weapons have been seized. A total of 477 hunters are registered in this territory, owning 545 units.

Citizens can report information about illegally stored weapons, ammunition, explosives, and devices to law enforcement agencies by calling 102, as well as by calling the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Department of Internal Affairs hotline at 55-90-63.
