The largest city Christmas tree in the history of the New Year tradition in Vitebsk will be installed on Victory Square - the largest square in Belarus, the Vitebsk City Executive Committee told a BELTA correspondent. The 35-meter-high New Year's beauty is 10 meters taller than its predecessors. It will consist of a hundred live fir trees, which are specially grown in forestries for such purposes. The installation of the metal frame structures has already begun, the City Executive Committee reported. In most cities of the world, the Christmas tree is given the most honorable place - the central square. So, the Vitebsk mayor's office decided to install the main Christmas tree of the region on Victory Square this year. The first stage of its reconstruction is almost complete, and the largest square in Belarus (its size is over 70 thousand sq.m) will become the center of all Christmas and New Year celebrations. The organizers have not yet revealed all the secrets, but they promise that they will be remembered by both adults and children. According to the designers involved in the reconstruction of Victory Square, the height of the Christmas tree being installed here can reach 45 meters. However, it will still be far from the Guinness World Records, where record holders from Washington - 67 meters, Warsaw - 72 meters, and Rio de Janeiro - over 80 meters are listed. But it will not be difficult for it to surpass the main Christmas trees of Russia, Ukraine, and its native Belarus. In Moscow, the height of the Christmas tree is about 33 meters, in Kyiv and Minsk - about 35 meters. -0-
