The most law-abiding youth in the Vitebsk region live in the Dokshitsy and Rossony districts. In these regions, no juvenile crimes were registered from January to October of this year, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by Irina Yanukovich, Senior Assistant Prosecutor of the Vitebsk Region for Supervision of the Enforcement of Legislation on Minors and Youth.
Overall, based on the results of 10 months, 325 crimes committed by minors and with their involvement were registered in the region, which is 19.2% less than in the same period last year. The share of juvenile crime in the total crime rate was 5%. At the same time, an improvement in the situation is noted in all areas, Irina Yanukovich noted. For example, fewer crimes were committed by minors under the influence of alcohol, by groups of individuals already having a criminal record. The number of minors involved in criminal activity decreased by 12% to 324 people. A decrease is also noted in particularly serious and serious crimes, theft, fraud, hooliganism, vehicle theft, robbery, etc., committed by minors.
"At the same time, an increase in juvenile crime is noted in the Vitebsk, Glubokoye, Lepel, Ushachi, Polotsk, and Shumilino districts. Representatives of the interested departments of these regions should pay more attention to preventive work," emphasized Irina Yanukovich.
For January-September, the prosecutor's offices of the Vitebsk region conducted 191 inspections for compliance with legislation on minors and youth, resulting in 748 acts of prosecutorial supervision, 172 submissions, 81 orders, 36 protests filed, and 459 official warnings issued. 395 officials were brought to disciplinary, administrative, and material liability, which is a 25% increase compared to the same period last year. 36 information memos on the state of legality and crime among minors were sent to state authorities.
