The plane with the wife of the President of Poland and relatives of those who died near Smolensk took off from Vitebsk

October 11, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. A plane with the wife of the President of Poland, Anna Komorowska, and relatives of those who died in the plane crash near Smolensk has departed from Vitebsk airport, a BELTA correspondent reports. Families of those who died near Smolensk, as well as the First Lady of Poland, Anna Komorowska, made a pilgrimage to the site of the tragedy on October 10, transiting through Vitebsk. Vitebsk airport received two planes with Polish citizens early in the morning, and then they traveled by bus to the site of the mourning events. The pilgrims' return journey was also supposed to go through Vitebsk. However, one of the two planes turned out to be faulty: the Boeing crew discovered an engine malfunction. Anna Komorowska decided to stay with the families of the deceased and did not exercise her right to fly on the serviceable plane. Coincidentally, the plane sent to replace the faulty one also turned out to have malfunctions. This was discovered by the crew during a pre-flight inspection. It was decided that the passengers would stay overnight in Vitebsk. As noted by the Chargé d'Affaires of Poland in the Republic of Belarus, Witold Jurasz, the Vitebsk authorities promptly provided accommodation in a hotel and ensured catering. "We were amazed by the efficiency with which all organizational issues were resolved by the authorities. We express our sincere gratitude to the leaders of the city and region, the border service, which, at times, it seemed to me, went beyond its instructions, as well as the Security Service of the President of Belarus," said Witold Jurasz. He also conveyed Anna Komorowska's sincere gratitude. The faulty plane is currently at Vitebsk airport, where it will be repaired by a special team from Poland. Airport technical services will provide comprehensive assistance if necessary. -0-
