About 45% of the nominal staff of housing and communal services enterprises are engaged in physical culture, said Mikhail Portnoy, acting head of the department of physical culture, sports and tourism of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, at a session of the regional council of deputies today. The regional department of housing and communal services has created the industry-specific sports and recreation club "Kommunalnik". The branches of "Vitebskoblgaz", the Vitebsk branch of "Beltelecom", and medical institutions of the region are actively developing physical culture and sports. Corporate sports clubs "Gazovik", "Svyazist", "Medik" operate here. At the same time, the regional sports and recreation club for agricultural workers "Urozhay" has not yet been created in the region. In accordance with the decision of the deputies, which was adopted today, such a club will be organized by September 1 of this year. The development of mass physical culture will be under the close attention of the deputies. Within the next few months, the deputies have instructed the department of physical culture, sports and tourism, the department of housing and communal services of the regional executive committee, and district and city executive committees to carry out the passporting of sports grounds, their repair, and also to study the need for new sports facilities on the ground, at a rate of 1 sports ground per 3 thousand inhabitants.
