The Vitebsk region sanitary and epidemiological service identified a number of violations in the operation of hairdressing and beauty salons

During a recent monitoring, specialists of the sanitary-epidemiological service of the Vitebsk region identified a number of violations in the activities of institutions providing cosmetic services.

Every woman, visiting a hairdresser or a salon, hopes to leave it transformed, well-groomed, radiating beauty and health. But sometimes such a visit can lead to the opposite, far from desirable consequences. Thus, during a recent monitoring, specialists of the sanitary-epidemiological service of the Vitebsk region identified a number of violations in the activities of institutions providing cosmetic services.

Deficiencies in work were found at 9 out of 41 inspected facilities. Among them, three lacked a license for medical activities, while in other cases, improper storage and processing of instruments were observed. As a result, three business entities were prohibited from performing chemical peeling and ultrasonic facial cleansing. Other “beauty salons” received recommendations for the elimination of identified violations, and some masters were fined.

– It is important to understand that non-compliance by hairdressing salons and beauty parlors with the sanitary and anti-epidemic regime, failure to comply with sanitary rules, norms, and hygiene standards can negatively affect the health of visitors and poses a risk of transmitting infectious and fungal diseases of hair, scalp, and feet, – emphasizes Svetlana Vorokhobko, Head of the Communal Hygiene Department of the Vitebsk Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology. – Therefore, before deciding to undergo a cosmetic or physiotherapeutic procedure in a particular salon or hairdressing establishment, we recommend that each visitor inquire about the availability of a license for providing this type of service and the relevant qualifications of the specialist. Attention should also be paid to the organization of the workspace, expiration dates, storage and preparation conditions for perfumery and cosmetic products, and, of course, to compliance with generally accepted hygiene rules. In case of allergic reactions to a particular product, be sure to inform the master.
