Berry picking in the forests of Vitebsk region postponed to September

The hot dry August and the high fire hazard situation do not yet allow lifting the ban on forest visits, in connection with which it was decided to postpone the collection of wild berries to a later date. Thus, in the Vitebsk region, you can go for lingonberries from September 3, and for cranberries – from September 10.

For many residents, collecting forest berries is an additional source of income. The First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Regional Consumer Union, Viktor Shulyak, named the purchase prices: 1 kg of lingonberries will be accepted for 10-17 thousand rubles, cranberries – for 15-25 thousand.

This summer, the region's consumer cooperation purchased 427 tons of blueberries and bilberries from the population, which is 11 times more than last year. Some of the gifts of nature were put on sale in stores, and some, after freezing, were sent for export.

There are 185 stationary and 237 mobile procurement points operating in the Vitebsk region.
