The Belarusian team won silver in the women's relay at the eighth stage of the Biathlon World Cup
The Belarusian team, consisting of Irina Krivko, Dinara Alimbekova, Anna Sola, and Elena Kruchinina, won silver in the four by six-kilometer relay at the eighth stage of the Biathlon World Cup in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic. Our quartet was among the leaders throughout the race and contended for victory until the very end. However, they ultimately finished second, losing to the Swedes by mere moments.
Our team did not perform at its best in the first two relays of the season (12th and 10th places). However, in the three subsequent similar races, they consistently finished in the top five (2nd, 5th, and 4th positions), which, of course, made them strong contenders for medals today. And the Belarusian women did not disappoint.
Irina Krivko finished her leg in 7th place (14.4 seconds behind the leader), Dinara Alimbekova – 4th (+28.0), Anna Sola – also 4th (+8.2), and Elena Kruchinina, who anchored our relay, brought the team to second place. The final deficit of the Belarusian quartet behind the Swedes was only 1.2 seconds, and the overall shooting statistics for the Belarusian women were 0 penalty laps + 9 additional cartridges. In terms of overall speed on the track, our team was the absolute best among all the teams.
The Swedish team, which included Mona Brorsson, Hanna Öberg, Linn Persson, and Elvira Öberg, took the top spot on the podium. They demonstrated near-perfect shooting (0 + 6) and completed the distance in 1 hour 3 minutes 26.6 seconds.
The bronze medals were won by the French team, consisting of Anaïs Bescond, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, Chloé Chevalier, and Julia Simon (+27.8; 1 + 8).
