Today (16.01.2014) is the deadline for submitting applications for the registration of initiative groups for the nomination of candidates for deputies

Recall that on January 12, the nomination of candidates for deputies began, which can be carried out by political parties, work collectives, and citizens by collecting signatures. According to the calendar plan approved by the Central Election Commission, January 16 is the deadline for submitting applications for the registration of initiative groups of citizens for collecting signatures in support of persons claiming a deputy mandate.

As of yesterday, 489 such applications have been received by the district and territorial commissions of the Vitebsk region: 71 – for the registration of initiative groups for collecting signatures for the nomination of candidates to the regional Council of Deputies, 141 – to the basic level Councils (district and cities of regional subordination), 277 – to the primary level (town, rural, and cities of district subordination). Commissions must consider the applications within five days, register the initiative groups, and issue their members with the relevant certificates and signature sheets. Registration of an initiative group may be refused in case of violation of the requirements of the Electoral Code.

The campaign for the nomination of candidates for deputies will last until February 10 inclusive.
