Agricultural land in the Vitebsk region will be repurposed.

This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Leonid Zayats.

The issue of "repurposing" the Vitebsk region has been around for a long time. The specific weather conditions here have never contributed to very high yields. In addition, the harvesting campaign traditionally ends later than in other regions. The ministry has repeatedly spoken about the need to change the structure of sown areas.

— We are now actively considering the issue of focusing on beef cattle breeding and beef production. Accordingly, the sown areas must be repurposed for the feed base. We already have accumulated experience in our country, and we have also studied the experience of the USA and Russia, so all advanced achievements will be implemented here as well, — explained Leonid Zayats. The ministry also recalled that according to the program for the development of the agricultural sector until 2020, beef production should increase by 200 thousand tons.
