Seven young scientists from the Vitebsk region became recipients of a special regional award
The 48th international scientific and technical conference of teachers and students, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the educational institution, has concluded at the Vitebsk State Technological University. Within the framework of the forum, the winners of the traditional open regional competition for the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee awards for young scientists and specialists were honored.
This competition is being held for the ninth time to stimulate research activities among young people engaged in promising scientific research and development in organizations of the Vitebsk region. In 2015, 27 works in mathematics, physics, medicine, humanities, economics, and other fields of knowledge were submitted for the award. As a result, seven representatives from five higher education institutions of the Vitebsk region became recipients of the Regional Executive Committee awards.
In the competitive section for fundamental research, the winners were Elena Bogdanova, assistant of the Department of Economics, Management and Economic Theory at Polotsk State University; Elena Vitko, senior lecturer of the Department of Algebra and Teaching Methods at VSU named after P. Masherov; and Alexander Solkin, assistant of the Department of Pathological Physiology at Vitebsk State Medical University. In the category of applied research and development, the awards were received by: Dmitry Bagrets, researcher at the Institute of Technical Acoustics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; Tatyana Tolkacheva, lecturer at the Department of Chemistry at VSU named after P. Masherov; Yaroslav Yaromchik, associate professor of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Academy of Veterinary Medicine; and Tatyana Borisova, senior lecturer of the Department of Design and Technology of Leather Goods at Vitebsk State Technological University.
Congratulating the winners, Vladimir Terentyev, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, emphasized that the competition is of great importance, and the main task facing its founders is not only to encourage young scientists but also to ensure that their work becomes noticeable and is implemented in production and industry, and receives further development.
– Today, a close and strong link has been established between science and practice, industry and production. Without the implementation of advanced research and development, there will be no socio-economic development of the country. In just 3 months of 2015, the share of innovative products manufactured in the Vitebsk region amounted to almost 30%, in value terms – about 6 trillion rubles. Every third enterprise today is innovative. In this indicator, the region ranks first in the republic, _ noted Vladimir Terentyev.
